User Manual for EasySite

EasySite is a user-friendly online tool to develop web sites. The benefits that EasySite provides to the users are:

The following are the steps involved in building a web site using EasySite.

Step 1: Select Number of Pages
Step 2: Select a Category
Step 3: Select a design for your web site
Step 4: Choose Colour & Image
Step 5: Customize your site
Step 6: Add/Edit your site

Please find below a step-by-step approach to build the web site using EasySite.

Step 1: Select The Number of Pages (up to 10)

As the first step to build your web site, you have to select the number of pages you plan to have in your web site.

Step 2: Select a Category

Next, you will be asked to Select a Category from the pull down menu. This selection of category is to present you those web site designs that will be more suited to your line of requirement as these designs will be tailored to the category selected by you.

If you are not able to find your relevant category listed in the pull down menu, you can select the "All" option (or) you can click on the "click here" link, which will display you the whole range of designs offered by EasySite. Six designs will be displayed in a page.

Step 3: Select A Design For Your Web Site

This page will display you the thumb nails of the designs, for the category you have selected. This is where you choose the design for your web site.

While choosing the design, kindly note that if your design contains vertical navigations, then you can upgrade your web site up to 10 pages. If your design contains Horizontal navigations, then you can upgrade your web site only up to 5 pages.

One page will display six designs. For browsing more thumbnail designs please click the subsequent pages, which will be displayed in the Grey bar shown above the designs, so that you will be taken to the next page.

To look at the enlarged design that you have selected, click on the thumbnail design or the "Click to enlarge" button.

If you would like to select a different category you can click on the "Go Back" button above the Grey bar, so that you will be taken to the "Select a Category" page.

Step 4: Choose Colour and Image

This section allows you to enhance the aesthetics of the design by choosing the colour and the image that you want for your web site.

Select Colour:

Each design contains 3 to 4 background colours to choose from. You can choose any of these colours, which you feel, will be apt for your web site.

Select Image:

You will be provided with a list of ../images to select from the pull down menu. These ../images will be mostly relevant to the category, which you have selected. You can use the ../images given in the pull down menu to change the image available in the design.

Once you are satisfied:

Click the "Next step" button. You will be taken to the page where you need to enter the name of the company and the slogan for the company.

If you want to change the design:

Click on the "Go Back" button, which will take you to the "Choose your design page".

Step 5: Customize Your Web Site

Having selected the design, background colour and the image, you can now start customizing the design by adding the Company name and the slogan for the company. If you don't have the slogan for the company you can use this text box for displaying the phone number (or) any other information you need to provide on all pages of the web site

Enter Company Name:

You can enter the name of the company in the text box. Please note that the number of characters, which can be entered into the text box, is displayed below the text box. This column is a mandatory column and hence you won't be allowed to leave this column blank. If you don't want to display the company name you can give any other main title you want to give in the web site.

Enter Slogan (Optional):

You can enter the slogan in the text box. If you don't have the slogan for the company you can use this text box for displaying the phone number (or) any other information you need to provide on all pages of the web site. Please note that the number of characters, which can be entered into the text box, is displayed below the text box.

Once you have completed entering the company name and the slogan you can click the Submit button to preview your web site design.

In the preview page, if you accept the design you can click "yes" given at the top of the screen. If you don't accept the design you can click "No" which will take you to the Select a design page.

Step 6: Add/Edit Your Web Site

Site Manager provides everything you need to create, update and enhance your web site. Using Site Manager you can do the following.

 Make changes to your company name and slogan
 Name the Links for the Pages
 Browse and upload the ../images of your choice
 View and Edit your account information
 Choose the layout for the pages
 Enter the text for paragraph
 Preview the pages

You can go to the page editor page by clicking the button in the site manager page. You can preview your web site page by page by clicking the button in the site manager page.

You can use the logout button for logging out of the site manager.

Page Editor:

Use this area to

 Choose the layout for your pages
 Enter the text for your paragraph using the applet
 Import and Upload the ../images of your choice
 Enter Caption for the image

Edit Master:

Use this area to

 Edit the Company Name
 Edit the Slogan column
 Add links to pages

Import ../images:

Use this area to

 Browse for the ../images
 Select and upload the ../images of your choice

Account Information:

Use this area to

 View your account details
 Edit your account details

Page Editor:

Page Editor will allow you to

 Choose the layout for your pages
 Enter the text for your paragraph using the applet
 Import and Upload the ../images of your choice
 Enter Caption for the image

Steps to Follow:

You need to follow the steps given below while using the page editor

1. Select the page layout
2. Enter the text for paragraph
3. Select (or) Import ../images
4. Give a caption for the image (optional)

It is very important that before entering the text, you decide on the page layout. Otherwise you will lose the text you have entered in the applet when you choose the page layout after entering the text.

Page Layout:

The current page layout will be displayed. If you wish to change the layout of the page, click on "Change Layout" link, so that you will be taken to the "Choose a Layout" page. You can choose the page layout that you feel you require for your web site to display the information, the way you like. You also have a separate layout for developing the forms online. Using this form layout you can customize the forms.

Form Manager:

This is an online tool for developing forms. You can customize the forms to meet your requirements using this tool.

You will have 3 columns, where you need to give your inputs to develop your form. The inputs you need to give are

 Field Name
 Field type
 No. of options (Required only for Pull down, Radio Button and Check box)

Field Name:

In this column you need to enter the name of the fields you want in the form. For example: Name, Address, and Organization, etc... The maximum number of characters you can give for field name is 30 characters. You will not be allowed to enter more than 30 characters.

Field Type:

The field types are given below

 Text Field
 Text Area
 Pull Down
 Check Box
 Radio Button

If you need to give only one Input value, you can either go in for Text field (or) Text area. If you have a number options to select from you can choose from check box, Pull down (or) Radio Button.

You can select the field types based on the fields. For Example:

Name, Phone
Text Field
Address, Comments
Text Area
Select Country
Pull down
Marital status
Radio Button
Area of Interest
Check Box

You can set the default values for both the Radio Button and the Check Box, by selecting the default fields while you preview the form.

Number of Options:

When you choose your field type as Pull Down, Radio Button (or) Check Box, you need to fill up the no. of options. You will not be allowed to submit until you fill up the no. of options column. The no. of options is limited from 1 to 10 for both check boxes and the radio buttons, while the no of options is limited to 99 for the pull down field type. Please note that Null values / Zero will not be accepted for Pull Down, Check Box and the Radio Buttons.

You can add, delete and update fields using the Form manager. For adding the fields you can click on the "add a field" button. For updating/editing the fields you can click on the "update a field" button and make the necessary changes and click the submit button. For deleting a field you have to click on "delete a field" button, check the boxes against the fields which you want to delete and click the submit button. You can preview the form, before you can submit it to be added in the site.

Import ../images:

Import Image section is used to include the ../images of your choice in the web site. You can browse and select the ../images. Then you can click the upload button to upload the image you have selected. The list of ../images that you have already imported and uploaded will be listed in the available ../images column.

Edit Master:

Edit Master can be used to edit the company name and the slogan columns.

Enter Company Name:

You can enter the name of the company in the text box. Please note that the number of characters, which can be entered into the text box, is displayed below the text box. Name Page Links:

The links for the pages can be named using the Edit Master. Please note that this is a mandatory column and hence you will not be allowed to leave the column blank. Some commonly used names for page links are given for you to select and choose from.
